Synopsis

The department of Anatomy was the first academic division established in the College of Medicine since its inception in 1395H (1975G). Upon transition to the new Medical Center, at the beginning of the academic year 1415H, the Department of Anatomy occupied the basement and ground floors of building number eight. The Department of Anatomy houses a number of museums and teaching facilities, including the open human cadaver museum, the basic Anatomy museum, a multimedia lab (Cyber-Anatomy) and an Anatomy skills lab. These labs are equipped with the latest, state of the art, education facilities. The subjects and curricula taught in the Department of Anatomy include Human Anatomy, Histology, Neuroanatomy and Embryology. These subjects are taught to the students of medical and health faculties, namely; the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Applied Medical Sciences and Nursing. The Department shares also in the Postgraduate programs (Master, Doctorate and Saudi Board for many specialties). Since its establishment, the department has been resided by the following professors; Prof. Mohammed Taher, Prof. Nawab Khan, Prof. Faisal Zaher, Prof. Abdulmomen Alhayani, Prof. Mohammed Badawood. Currently, the Department Chairman is Prof. Hamid Abdul Raoof Saleh.
